Event Description:
We have all had that moment: despite diligent practice, countless classes, and maybe even competitions, your dog may be struggling.
- Inconsistent performance?
- Acting “ringwise”?
- Distracted? (So many ways to be distracted!)
- Shutting down or running zoomie laps?
- No cookie, no work?
Sound familiar? You try this, you try that, and the problem persists. It can be frustrating to work so hard applying techniques and recommendations that never quite solve the problem. So, now what?
Very often, the root of the problem is a hole in the dog’s foundation and understanding. Suzanne Clothier’s Relationship Centered Training (RCT) approach takes a holistic view of the dog as a physical, mental, and emotional being, and of the relationship between handler and dog, to help each team find their sweet spot. The late veterinary behaviorist Dr. R.K. Anderson called Suzanne “one of the best observers of dogs I’ve ever seen,” and her easy, humorous teaching style will open your eyes to what each dog can tell you, when you know how to see and listen.
This weekend workshop centers on case history presentations and real problem-solving. Common themes include:
- Arousal: too much! Too little!
- Communication: too much? Too little?
- Using reinforcement to best effect
- Physical limits
- Building success in thin slices
- Management vs. training
Join us for a weekend of new ways to analyze problems, practical solutions that work for that dog and that handler, and a deeper understanding of dogs and our relationships with them.
