Performance Problems – Or Holes in the Foundation?
We’ve all had that moment: despite our diligent practice and countless classes and maybe even competitions, your dog may be struggling.
- Inconsistent performance?
- Acting “ringwise”?
- Distracted? (So many ways to be distracted!
- Shutting down or running zoomie laps?
- No cookie, no work?
Sound familiar?
Trying to find an answer, you try this, that and yet the problem persists. It can be frustrating to work so hard to apply techniques and follow recommendations that just don’t seem to really solve the problem. So now what?
Maybe, looking at the problem in a new way can help guide to solutions that actually work.
Suzanne’s approach to problem solving is built on her decades of experience helping handlers solve performance problems of every kind. Very often, the root of the problem is a hole in the dog’s foundation and understanding. Her Relationship Centered Training approach takes a holistic view of the dog as a physical, mental and emotional being, of the relationship between handler and dog, and finding ways to help the team find their sweet spot.
This workshop focuses on case history presentations and trying to find solutions. Some common themes that typically arise in these workshops:
- Arousal – too much! too little!
- Communication – too much? too little?
- Using reinforcement to best effect
- Physical limits
- Building success in thin slices
- Management vs training
Join us for a weekend that will provide new ways to analyze problems and challenges, find practical solutions that work for that dog and handler, and have fun doing it while deepening your understanding of dogs and our relationships with them.
