“I’ll Be Back” and “I’ll Be Right Here”: Recorded Webinar
Maybe you’re just going to another room, to walk an agility course, grab the mail, or run to the bathroom. But your worried dog frets and wails. How do you reassure your pal that you’ll be back?
For some dogs, leaving their handler and walking off with another person (familiar or strange) is distressing, sometimes to the point of panic.
This webinar focuses on two common but rarely addressed issues. Both are important life skills for any dog.

Leaving is so hard to do!
1. I’ll Be Back – leaving your dog while you move away. Maybe you’re just going to another room, to walk an agility course, grab the mail, or run to the bathroom. But your worried dog frets and wails. How do you reassure your pal that you’ll be back? Being able to be left is an important life skill, and it must be taught deliberately. This webinar covers Suzanne’s simple & effective “I’ll Be Back” technique, perfect for the worried dog (not a self-injuring separation anxiety dog).
2. I’ll Be Right Here – having your dog leave you with someone else. For some dogs, leaving their handler and walking off with another person (familiar or strange) is distressing, sometimes to the point of panic. Suzanne’s “Starburst” technique helps dog develop the skill and confidence to move away from their handler in a calm, relaxed way. Instead of trying to lure the dog with food or toys, Suzanne’s approach uses the handler as the reward.

A new concept for me! Ah, this makes so much sense. I love how Suzanne teaches these real life skills for our dogs so that they can have a happier life, and so can we. I realized I do use my own version of I’ll be back, but I haven’t thought to teach it, it just happens by osmosis from the older dogs. The idea of teaching them to go with another person is not something I have ever thought to do and blew my mind. So clever!
